So Why Hide the Charts?

The Shaky Rollout of Tariffs (An Entire New Economic System)

The Trump administration has been excellent in messaging during its first 100 days in office. However, one area its’ messaging has fallen is in the roll-out of the tariff economy. There should have been some essential truths about tariffs communicated to the populace in simple charts all could understand.

From these charts, there is proof in what Trump says that the nation has been getting screwed by other nations. One can simply look at the charts to see this. The charts below show the tariff this nation charges the U.S. and in the second column, the reciprocal, discounted tariffs the U.S. charges. Of course, China and the U.S. have changed since the charts were made.

But the chart is so interesting in that it so much proves Trump’s continued claim that the nation has been screwed by other nations. The numbers are there in the charts. Trump’s point is so well made by looking at the various tariffs other nations have on the U.S. Why hasn’t this chart been exposed to the populace more? Why simply flashed before the nation at the unveiling of the tariffs? The chart should constantly be before the populace. It is obvious the tariffs are against in all cases. There is nothing “even playing field” about America with the rest of the world. The charts make the argument so well for Trump.

And what about the history of tariffs compared to income taxes. Tariffs were the first way the federal government was financed. Until the arrival of income taxes replacing tariffs, circa 1916. If one looks at the first years of American tariffs, they rise far above other nations tariffs, like the peaks of the Himalayas.

One simple truth is that tariffs were the first way we financed the federal government. External taxes rather than internal taxes. Income taxes is really the new kid on the block. The original way was financing the government via tariffs.

Something no one talks about. Are tariffs a way towards running a more efficient and less corrupt federal bureaucracy? Musk and the DODGE team might have investigated this already. There might be something that makes tariffs far more efficient and less corrupt than federal income taxes. Has anyone explored this angle? Is this – in fact – a type of “elephant in the room” thing? Is this a real power point behind the Democrats insistence on income tax over tariffs. A way the Dems can control money flow through income tax rather than tariff? A question that needs exploration it seems to me.

But give Trump cover on his claims we are getting screwed by the best of the world. It is all there in the tariff charts Trump presents when setting the tariffs. All the percentages for all to see. The tariffs and the American reciprocals. Sometimes, a discounted half of what they should be.

Readers are asked to simply linger over the charts below for enough time to see how lopsided the world is against America. Despite what all the Marxists say. These charts prove them totally wrong. America is not ripping off the rest of the world. Rather, the rest of the world is ripping off America.

There are many other charts showing tariffs and how much the nation is shut out from others. Again, charts and numbers prove the points that Trump wants to make and should be used as much as possible. Not just brought out at press conferences but rather explained in terms – perhaps – of a dramatic story. A new economy proposed. Why tariffs over income taxes? Something that needs explaining. Not that it is a bad idea. It simply needs some setup. The inequalities of America versus the tariffs of other nations was never really set up. No one knew what it was. It was something the media seldom discussed. Biden gave it about zero amount of attention.

With Trump, tariffs became his new rallying cry after the borders were secured. The question of tariffs was able to raise its head above all the other things going on in the administration. And there were a lot. But it became clear to the markets and to the world that America was moving forward on a new path in its relationship with the world. It wasn’t going to be screwed by the world anymore.

This was a strange move by Trump to the Democrats. Now he was not playing just national politics against them but now international politics against nations ripping the nation off. The Democratis have not known how to repond to Trump’s internationalism rather than domestic politics. As if it would matter in the first place.

  1. WHAT PRSIDENT TRUMP WANTS TO DO IS GOOD FOR OUR COUNTRY, WE CANNOT TOLERATE OTHER COUNTRIES RIPING US OFF WITH HIGH TARIFFS AND WE AREN’T CLOSE TO GIVING THEM THE SAME COST OF TARIFFS TO THEM…THE DEMS ARE HOLLERING AS THEY DON’T WANT THE SYSTEM CHANGED…WE HAVE SO MUCH CORRUPTION I WOULDN’T HAVE THE SPACE TO WRITE ABOUT ALL OF IT. THANKS FOR THE INFORMATION. JOHN. BARBARA

  2. We certainly have a history of electing talented groups of pro-America negotiators (politicians?) to represent us at the “World Table of International Trade”, haven’t we? There seemingly is no end to the ways in which our American leadership has attempted to buy political popularity.
