Alicia Vikander in Ex Machina
An interesting article from the February 26th Hollywood Reporter regarding the application of artificial intelligence (AI) to screenplays called ScriptHop. The new system will offer both a type of Dewey Decimal System for cataloging Hollywood screenplays as well as a type of predictor of screenplay success.
In providing a type of concierge librarian of scripts for studios and talent agencies, the new service will help match talent to projects. One of the founders of ScriptHop is Scott Foster, former Director of the Story Department at the large talent agency UTA.
ScriptHop is not the only company working to apply AI to script analysis. In development for the past year is the England-based system ScriptBook.
It will be interesting to see what 2016 has in store for the application of AI to screenplays in Hollywood.
