The Famous Cafe Trocadero on Sunset Strip
That Old Black Magic / Frank Sinatra

This story has a special importance to me. As it might to anyone contemplating this particular time in their life. It might have some value to others. My first year and a half of life was spent in the West Hollywood part of Los Angeles. On Miller Drive, a steep, winding, street that ran into the hills from the the corner of Sunset Blvd. and Miller Drive. On the corner of its intersection with Sunset is the famous LA club the Whiskey A Go Go. Where Jim Morrison appeared in the late 60s.
This period of the history of one of Los Angeles’ most unique and special neighborhoods. I suggest viewing this. A collection of the legendary places of West Hollywood. A wonderful collection of the great places along LA’s Sunset Strip of the 40s through the 60s. A happening place was one name we all called it when I was in high school in nearby Claremont, California.
Despite the distance, I made it into the Sunset Strip in those days and heard some great bands. In the past decade or so, on visits to LA, I’ve driven over to the West Hollywood area of Los Angeles. It means little to most people but much to me as it was the first place I “landed” on earth so to speak.

I recall on one of my visits back to my hometown of LA, I drove over to West Hollywood and down Sunset and past many of the places listed in the above article. Some were still in operation.
I had to stop in the Whisky A Go Go. It seemed appropriate. On a Tuesday night. Hardly no one in the place. Yet, on the stage, a powerful, passionate, kick-ass band playing.
