One of the key things I’ve learned is that there exists a delicate balance in the U.S. Constitution between federal and states rights. The two positions were argued mainly by Hamilton for federal rights and Jefferson for states rights. During the history of the republic, it has been a conservative dictum that freedom exists in states’ rights as opposed to non-freedom of federal rights.

But in modern America, the freedom of states’ rights and independence from the federal government has been exercised by Democrats. That is for states freedom from federal rule. Interestingly, the greatest weapon in the modern Democratic arsenal is not the useless members of the federal legislature, but those in positions of power in the various states. This state group includes (but is not limited to) governors, mayors, attorney generals, prosecutors, federal district judges. There are layers of state power under this top layer. The main change is that state power is now exercised much greater than in the past. The great tool of freedom of Jefferson, used against freedom to combat the current federal government.

While the bunch of brand builders in the current Democratic Party (like AOC and Jasmine) continue on with their own brand-building antics, real Democratic power is exercised within states. This is a reversal of what Jefferson foresaw but it is certainly happening today. Decisions of the Supreme Court has halted some of this exercise of state and regional power over the Executive branch. But there are sure to be other challenges.

In many ways, the real way forward for the Democratic Party might in fact come from the states rather than those sitting in DC. For example, who would have thought we would be talking about a new mayor of New Yor City that no one had heard of one month ago.

Battles similar to the above seem to be the course for America in the next few years. That is, blue states (governors, mayors, AGs, judges) continuing with their battle against the Trump government. Any cities of America, like LA and NYC, are already captured by the Democrats and difficult to get back. Even after a huge tragedy like a great fire.

Politics is different today when an unknown can perhaps become the new NYC Mayor. Certainly, we’re not in Kansas anymore. The modern process is not to go through the old process but to ascend quickly by a nomination such as the NYC mayor. And to promise the world. Which costs money. To those who know nothing about money. (young voters living in NYC) What could possibly go wrong?

Well, if nothing goes wrong with this for a while, others will attempt takeover of mayorships of major US cities or governships. The situation with the socialist candidate for NYC Mayor might be a turning point in politics if he proceeds to be the next Mayor. And, if he succeeds in this role.

  1. Throughout my lifetime, I have observed a clear movement within the USA where we are moving from a conservative Private Sector-driven ‘”states’ rights” nation to a liberal Public Sector-driven “federal rights” nation. This observation is reinforced in my mind every time I receive money solicitations from out-of-state political candidates. The concept of “states’ rights” surely has to be on its way out when monied Californians can, for example, determine the officeholders of West Virginia. The biased impact of money easily crosses state lines.
