Bananarama / I Heard a Rumor Video /1987

“I Heard a Rumour” is a song by the English all female group Bananarama from their fourth studio album, Wow!(1987). It was released June 22, 1987 as the album’s lead single. It charted at number 14 in the United Kingdom and entered the top 10 in several other countries, including Canada and the United States, where it became a top-five hit.

The song has an up-beat tempo to it. A link to disco music at its height ten years before in the late 70s. Now, this song comes along. Ten years after the height of disco craze of the late 70s.

A powerful video with great editing. Little wonder it became a classic music video. Here, presented in the earlier days of music videos, when there was still energy and truth and life in the videos. When music videos were just starting and the music and groups were so much full of energy. Like the above video of Bananarama.

For me, someone older than the target market for the song, it still has power over. And too, it arrived at a much needed time in my life.and was uplifting. What more can one ask of a song?
