Double Rainbow / Song & Lyrics by Carlos Jobim (1980) / Sung by Stacey Kent
To Jim after all his trials and the blessing he’ll see more rain, roses and rainbows
One of the most beautiful songs by the legendary Brazilian composer Antonio Carlos Jobim. And what a better person to sing it than the Grammy Award winner and international star Stacey Kent. This piece is off of her I Know I Dream album of 2017 featuring a full orchestra.

Stacey Kent
I first heard this on my favorite jazz station from the Bay Area, KCSM that I stream most of the day. Much better and relaxing for me than listening to all the news. I loved the song from the start. The words seemed like pieces of Haiku poetry intent on just catching images and feelings of rain and the coming spring. I found images to match the words on Google Image search and put them in the right places of the song to coincide with the beautiful voice of Stacey Kent. The Ken Burns effect used throughout for moving over the photos in various directions.

Double Rainbow / Lyrics & Song by Antonio Carlos Jobim
Listen … The rain is falling on the roses
The fragrance drifts across the garden
Like the scent of some forgotten melody
This melody belongs to you, belongs to me, belongs to no one.
See the way the crimson petals scatter when the wind blows
Ah, the secret sigh of love that suddenly the heart knows
See how a robin’s there among the puddless
And hopping through the misty rain drops
He’s come to tell us it is spring.
Look at the double rainbow
The rain is silver in the sun light
A fleeting fox is in the garden
Rain sweet lovin’ mother rain.
That soaks the earth
That swells the streams
That cleans the sky
And brings the blue.
See how the jasmine tree is all in flower
The little brook of clever waters flows into a vast river.
Ah, you belonged to no one
Ah, you belonged to no one
Ah, you belonged to no one
Ah, you belonged to no one
